Kyle Wiemar is the Director of Bands at Creekside Park Junior High School in Tomball, TX. He is in his ninth year teaching band and third with Tomball ISD. Mr. Wiemar studied music education at the University of Oklahoma, where he was the 55th drum major of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. The first six years of his teaching career took place at Yukon Middle School in Yukon, OK, were he was named Teacher of the Year in 2014-2015. Yukon Middle School’s 8th grade band was selected as the Middle School Honor Band at the Oklahoma Music Educator’s Association Convention in 2015 and is a 9-time OSSAA Outstanding Achievement winner under Mr. Wiemar’s direction. The 2015-16 school year was Mr. Wiemar’s first in Texas at Tomball Junior High. His responsibilities included teaching beginning clarinet, trumpet, and conducting the symphonic band, which earned a UIL Sweepstakes Award in 2016. This school year marks the inaugural year of Creekside Park Junior High. The band program has started with 200 students in grades six through eight. Creekside Park's Symphonic and Honor Bands both received the UIL Sweepstakes award in April. Mr. Wiemar was named one of Creekside Park's first A+ Teachers of the Year. Mr. Wiemar looks forward to Creekside Park's bright future!
