Good Evening Parents,

This week in science we are finishing up with Elements and will  have a test on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on class.  I have received many emails about having trouble logging into the online textbook.  I have spoken with technology and seems to be a problem with logging in.  I will keep you posted when the situation is resolved.

Hi Parents,

It's been a long week and it's the first full week we have had this school year, he he he.  I enjoyed meeting those of you who came to open house last night.  Be sure to pick up a planner for your kiddo and any other supplies they still need.

Greeting Parents,

After all the craziness from the last few weeks it's nice to get back into the swing of things and for me too.  My house flooded so I was out last week for a few days.  Things are slowly getting repaired.

This week in Science:  All classes have finished with safety and equipment and starting Metals, Nonmetals, and Metalloids.  Be sure to ask them questions as the week moves on.

Here is announcement from our fabulous PTO.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PTO

PTO Spirit Wear is being sold now and is your only chance to buy this year!! Take advantage as this will be theway to gear up for Friday Spirit Days at school.  Parents don’t forget to buy for yourself and your other kids who may be in the stands cheering on our Cougars!!

PTO is also asking for your support in our Cougar Campaign.  This is our lone fundraising drive for the year.  Last year, PTO was able to buy books for our library, lab equipment for Science, graph pull down charts for the Math dept, sewing machines for Theater, a mascot costume, wall signage throughout the school and on the water tank, honor roll achievement cards, 8th Grade celebration, teacher appreciation and more!  We are wise stewards of your money and our goal is to continue to make this school a place on the rise!

Both of these campaigns end Friday. We will be at Open House on Thursday or your kids bring in an order and check to the front office, visit us through the parent section on the school web site, or our facebook page to connect to our online store.

Please be sure you have signed your child's Safety Contract.  Also, I sent home a form that was if you child had their own devise and needed to download the QR code app.  We will be doing an activity tomorrow that requires the app.  If you child doesn't have a devise I will place them in a group that has one.

Solar Eclipse is coming

Hello Everyone,

This is information on the solar eclipse that our district sent out to teachers.  I hope you get to see this awesome event.  I am looking forward to meeting my students on Tuesday.

Mrs. Burkhart

As most of you probably know on Aug 21st we will be in the path of a solar eclipse. The last time this phenomenon occurred in the US was 1991 and the next one will not occur in the US until 2024.  The eclipse will begin at 11:45 AM, maximum coverage will be at 1:15 PM and it will conclude at 2:45 PM. I encourage you to invite your staff to watch this awesome event online from NASA at https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive

Here are some safety precautions that should be taken in order to observe the eclipse safely only if you have safety glasses.

  • Never look at the Sun directly – Even if you have solar glasses, they should only be used for short periods of time.
  • Stand still and cover your eyes with your eclipse glasses on before looking up at the bright sun. After looking at the sun, turn away and remove your glasses — do not remove them while looking at the sun
  • Do not look at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun through an unfiltered camera, telescope, binoculars, or other optical device
  • Do not look at the sun through a camera, a telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while using your eclipse glasses — the concentrated solar rays will damage the filter and enter your eye(s), causing serious injury
  • If you normally wear eyeglasses, keep them on, and put your eclipse glasses on over them.

Well, parents...tag you are it!!  We made it and what a great journey it has been.  I want to say how much I enjoyed teaching your kids this year.  They are a special bunch.  They are respectful, kind and loving.  I will always remember them.  Thank you so much for being awesome parents.

Hello Parents,

I need your help...some of my students seem to think that school is over and they do not need to do their school work or study for test.  Unfortunately that is not the case.  We still have three weeks of school and I will be taking grades for all three weeks.  I have some students who are failing and have several zeros because they are not turning in work.  Please speak with your child about the importance of this.
