My name is Dr. Ashley L. Schlafly, and I am proud to serve as the Academic Specialist at Creekside Park Junior High. I have the pleasure of wearing two hats on campus overseeing both the dyslexia and testing departments. In my first role, I have the awesome opportunity to serve our community of students with dyslexia alongside the awesome Ms. George, our Reading Lab teacher! In the latter, I operate as the campus testing coordinator and work with our amazing faculty and administration to administer the many tests our students work on throughout the year.
I am honored to be a part of the CPJH family, and I am ready to conquer all our 2020-2021 school year sends our way!
I am a graduate of the University of Houston with a doctorate in literacy and the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master's of Arts in Political Theory. I began teaching in 2007, and, over the years, I have taught Math, Physics and English Language Arts and Reading to grades 6-12. Upon moving to Houston in 2013, I served as the Education and Family Services Director for Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County helping to build our program, Habitat University, for both homeowners and their families. In 2017, I began working at the University of Houston as an instructional coach, specializing in literacy in school districts both within Texas and Mississippi. I joined Tomball ISD this year, and I am so excited to be a part of a district that prioritizes learning, students and their teachers! My husband and I look forward to building a home here, so our own two children (aged 4 and 2) can attend Tomball schools beginning next fall! Let's have a great school year where we will continue Achieving Excellence Together!!
